We're Expanding Our Bread Program (And Here's What's Coming)

Bread is what we do. It's the foundation of everything at The Lakehouse Bakery.
Sourdough. Sandwich loaves. Dinner rolls. Pizza dough. It's not just a product line — it's what separates scratch bakeries from everyone else.
And we're about to do a lot more of it.
Meet Kayla (She's Here to Help Matt)
You probably know Matt. He's been our lead bread baker for years — the guy responsible for making sure your sourdough is ready when you walk through the door.
But Matt can only make so much bread by himself.
So we brought on Kayla to join the bread team. She's got serious credentials — professional training and years in production bakeries. Together, they're expanding what we can offer.
Why Bread Matters (And Why Most Bakeries Outsource It)
Bread is the hardest thing to do right.
It requires time. Our sourdough ferments for 24+ hours. Most commercial bread? 90 minutes — and that's if they're making it at all.
It requires skill. Reading dough is an art. You can't just follow a recipe.
It requires space. Bread takes up counter space for proofing, shaping, and baking.
That's why most bakeries outsource it. They buy par-baked loaves from a distributor, heat them in-house, and call it fresh.
We don't do that. Everything is made from scratch, here, by Matt and Kayla. No preservatives. No shortcuts. Ever.
What's New Starting in March
English Muffins
We did a very small test run of English muffins a while back. Now Kayla's perfecting the recipe to bring them to you for real.
Not the grocery store hockey pucks. Real English muffins with nooks and crannies that actually hold butter.
When: Rolling out in March Where: Available at the bakery and local stores near you
Buns & Rolls
We're expanding into a whole new category:
Burger buns (for burgers that deserve better)
Pretzel buns (because sometimes you want that)
Dinner rolls (for every occasion)
Garden herb dinner rolls (savory, aromatic, and made for the dinner table)
When: Coming to retail in March
Cranberry Caboodles (Brand New)
This is our new scratch-made cracker line. Starting with cranberry — dried cranberries, pumpkin, herbs, and seeds — perfect with cheese or eaten straight from the bag. Additional flavors to follow as we develop them.
When: Launch coming soon Where: Bakery retail first, then local stores near you
What This Means for You
More bread means more variety at retail, fresher product at local stores near you, consistent availability, and new products you haven't seen from us before.
Right Now: Stop by the bakery for our current bread selection.
March: Watch for English muffins, the expanded bun and roll lineup, and Cranberry Caboodles to drop. We'll announce everything on social media.
